National Coffee Day!!

Something you should know about me, I LOVE my coffee.
It gets me going every morning and gives me a pick-me-up when I really need a push to get through the day and I seriously don't function well without it.

So much so, it's kind of become a running joke with my family and friends.
In fact, my best friend, Miss Courtney, would greet me at the door in silence with a cup of coffee if I'd been up late the night before. She gets me.
I'm drinking some now as I type this.
When I started Intermittent Fasting, I was relieved to find that I didn't have to give up my coffee. I just had to switch to unsweetened and black, which wasn't too big of a deal, because I had completed a sugar detox a couple years before discovering IF.
Through the detox, I became somewhat taste-sensitive to sugar where, depending on the food item, a little was almost too much for me anymore. As a result, my coffee was mainly just a little bit of cream anyway.
It makes me appreciate them all that muc…

Let's Get Personal....I'll Start!

Hello, my name is Courtney, and here is part of my story. I am a later-30’s, recent stay-at-home, crazy baking, animal and exercise loving, karate and guitar lesson taxiing, juicing (the fruit and veggie kind haha), essential oil fanatic, wife and mom.

All in the name of the house smelling good when people came over, but also secretly hoping it would make a difference in our family’s, my son’s in particular, struggles with health obstacles and issues.
My little man was dealing with issues as simple as acid reflux to complications from intussusception. Which means everything thing from the stomach to the kidneys to the intestines and some things in between.
Years of “research” or, as I call it, Dr. Google, telling me wh…

Intermittent Fasting and Me

Hi again!Intermittent Fasting has changed my life. My friends and family have heard me talk about it A LOT.

I find myself suggesting it to everyone and anyone I come across.

"Struggling with weight?  Intermittent Fasting!"

"High blood pressure? Intermittent Fasting!"

"Digestion or gut issues? Intermittent Fasting!"

"Need help moving? Intermittent Fasting!"

Okay, maybe that last one hasn't happened...yet, but I'm gonna give it time.

There are a LOT of IF plans out there and, while I can't speak to what will for you, I'll be covering what works for me in this quick break down.

My Fast
I've been fasting since the end of January 2018 and focus on a 19:5 fasting/eating plan. This means that I fast for 19 hours per day, then I have a five hour eating window. Typically, my eating window falls between 3pm and 8pm.

Sometimes, this varies, though. I've noticed that if my activity level increases (I'll talk more on my "workouts"…
